Missione Peru

What's it about?

The Missions Project consists in spending a week or ten days with the people of the Peruvian Sierra, often in places without basic services such as running water or electricity.

The Mission experience is based upon sharing in the life of the people, besides sharing in their typical activities you will be able to offer some service to the community, above all of a  practical nature. In previous trips games for the youngest were organized and many houses, chapels and schools repaired and painted. This practical work is normally undertaken in the morning while in the afternoons you will be with the youngsters and their families, organizing and taking part in games and contests. At night there is often music by the light of bonfires.

It is a trip which has an explicitly Catholic foundation in that as well as the aid and company given, the local people are also given a Christian formation thanks to other volunteers given/charged with this task. Each “pueblo” or village has a leader with whom you can co-ordinate the type of help you intend to give.

The inhabitants themselves will put a house at your disposal in which you can eat and sleep, the group however must be equipped with sleeping bags and provisions for their whole stay. Such a trip will normally last from a week to ten days and will take place in the regions of Huaraz, the Colca Valley and Ayaviri.
